Parent Hostel accommodation

xxx

There is a range of accommodation options available for parents and carers during your child's treatment at Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick.

If you have a long distance to travel and require accommodation, we recommend you organise this as soon as your child’s admission date has been arranged. If you are travelling more than 100kms, a reimbursement scheme called The NSW Isolated Patients’ Travel and Accommodation Scheme (IPTAAS) is available and offers assistance with travel and accommodation expenses. http://www.iptaas.health.nsw.gov.au/home

Unfortunately, the Hospital is not able to provide accommodation for any siblings, apart from babies who are breastfed.

On the award - Single sofa beds or recliners are provided free of charge at each child’s bedside, except in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Emergency Department. As space is limited, there is room for only one parent to stay with each child by the bedside or in the parent retreat area that is located on some wards.

Located within the Hospital this accommodation is only for parents/carers (no siblings) of children who are a full admission (staying one night or more on a ward). Limited accommodation is available for parents and carers of patients currently being treated in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Pre-booking is encouraged where possible and a nominal fee is charged per night. Unfortunately, we are not able to accommodate siblings in the ICU Parents Hostel except for breastfed babies. For more information, phone the ICU Clinical Support Administrator on (02) 9382 1156.
