Prince of Wales Hospital (POWH)

The Prince of Wales Hospital is a 440 bed major public teaching hospital located in Sydney's eastern suburb of Randwick, providing a full range of hospital services to the people of New South Wales, Australia. The hospital has strong ties to the University of New South Wales. The hospital provides specialty services in areas such as hyperbaric medicine, neuroscience, emergency medicine, spinal medicine and cardiovascular care.

Visiting hours in most wards are from 10.00am-1.00pm and 3.00pm-8.00pm. Quiet hours on most wards are 8.00pm until 8.00am and 1.00pm until 3.00pm – please do not visit at these times. Some wards may have different visiting times or special requirements, such as our Intensive Care Unit. To confirm a wards visiting hours or to enquire about a patient please contact: Patient Enquiries on 9382 2300. Please be reminded that most rooms are shared and we ask you to be sensitive to the needs of other patients.

Visiting Hours

General Wards - Visitors to the general wards are restricted to 2 nominated visitors per patient for the duration of the patient's hospital stay. Visits can be for up to 2 hours per day between 3.00pm and 8.00pm. You will be required to sign in and out of the ward and undergo health screening upon arrival.

Maternity Maternity patients may have 1 nominated visitor for the duration of their admission for up to 2 hours per day. Additionally, one sibling per visit may come to the ward, providing they do not overlap with the nominated visitor.

Visiting hours are 4.00pm to 7.00pm for adults and 4.00pm to 6.00pm for siblings.

ATMs

ATMs can be found on level 0 near Barker St entrance, and on level 2 near the High St entrance.

Connect to the Internet with free WiFi We have free WiFi available for patients, family and visitors to connect to the internet with their smartphone, tablet, laptop or WiFi enabled device.

Follow these steps to connect with our WiFi:

1. Open your device, go to WiFi settings and choose the following network: NSW_Health_Guest_WiFi_SESLHD 

2. The WiFi welcome page should display. If not, open your browser and go to: https://wifi.hills.com.au/pow

3. The page will ask you about which hospital you are visiting. Select Prince of Wales Hospital & Community Health Services.

4. Select: Create a new account.

5. Select: Free Service.

6. Complete the registration form. Read and accept the Terms & Conditions.

7. Select: Continue. You will now be connected to the Internet.
