St George Hospital (SGH)

St George Hospital a tertiary referral hospital, and an accredited principal teaching Hospital of the University of New South Wales. It has a designated medical trauma service and is the Medical Retrieval Service Coordination Centre for NSW. The Hospital has approximately 500 beds and more than 2200 staff (full-time equivalents) and is one of the largest in Sydney.

As an organisation our intention is to provide all our patients and their families with respectful, safe, quality health care. Whilst we recognise when a loved one is unwell, it can be a very stressful and difficult for family and friends.  It is essential that our staff are not subjected to either verbal or physical intimidation, abuse or aggression. Please remember that we are aiming to provide the best possible care we can, sometimes under difficult circumstances.

Opening Hours

The visiting hours set by St George Hospital.  Each ward has a maximum number of visitors that are allowed at any one time. This is due to privacy and space limitations along with ensuring patient well being. Should you need any assistance please discuss with the health care team caring for your loved one.

• General Ward visiting hours are 10am - 8pm daily. 
• Maternity Unit visiting hours are 10:00am – 8:00pm – variation in visiting hours are subject to individual patient needs.
• Intensive Care Unit visiting hours are 8:00am – 10:00pm - variation in visiting hours are subject to individual patient needs. 
• Mental Health Unit visiting hours are 10:00am - 12:30pm and 3:00pm - 8:00pm

The Wi-Fi service is listed as 'nhsfreewifi' in the list of Wi-Fi networks on mobile devices.

The service requires a patient or visitor to register with an email address to enable access. On verification of a valid email address, devices that support Wi-Fi and have a modern browser will be able to connect, for example:

• tablets – iPads, Android or Microsoft

• smartphones of most types

• laptops with Apple or Microsoft operating systems

• some games consoles.
