Narrabri Powering On Luncheon – 5 November 2019

A Melbourne Cup luncheon was held at and catered by the Narrabri RSL Club.

The Outback Shack provided beautiful three course meal finished with coffee and tea and the attendees had an opportunity to enjoy a day out for the races without spending a fortune. We coordinated 2 speakers who presented on Health and looking after yourself, Life and Inspiration of being women. Following this we had the race day entertainment on the big screen and a number of race day traditions like ‘fashions in the field’. We found the attendees had an opportunity to dress up have a day out with friends and receive information that was needed in a safe and relaxed environment. We tried to have fun and lighten the load. Laughter is the best medicine.

A Healthwise nurse was available to do health-checks and each attendee was given a goodies bag which had a gift and a range of pamphlets and contacts for information on (and ways to obtain) available drought assistance, and Health and Mental Health support. At the time of this event Narrabri was experiencing severe drought and the impact of local bushfires. This event allowed us to support the attendees and also the local business community who we purchased gift, products and services from. At this event we had 117 attendees.
