The riverside City Botanic Gardens are Brisbane's original botanic gardens. Attractions at the gardens include the Bamboo Grove, Weeping Fig Avenue, Riverstage, ornamental ponds and more.

The City Botanic Gardens provide a great venue for a picnic, as well as beautiful settings for weddings and other functions. The Gardens Club cafe is open daily.

Picnic tables and seats in shaded areas are located throughout the gardens and along the riverbank. Popular picnic locations include the Royal Palms Lawn, and areas around the playground.

The playground provides quality facilities where children of all abilities can play together in a well-maintained and safe environment. The playground provides access for children in wheelchairs and includes a mix of equipment that is stimulating and interesting for all children. It is supported by changes to park infrastructure to ensure wider pathways to allow carers to walk alongside wheelchairs and upgraded toilet facilities with a ceiling hoist for people with disabilities.
