The Carlton Gardens is a 26 hectare World Heritage Site located on the northeastern edge of the Central Business District in the suburb of Carlton, Melbourne. A popular picnic and barbecue area, the Carlton Gardens are home to an array of wildlife, including brushtail possums.

The gardens are an example of Victorian landscape design with sweeping lawns and varied European and Australian tree plantings consisting of deciduous English oaks, White Poplar, plane trees, elms, conifers, cedars, turkey oaks, Araucarias and evergreens such as Moreton Bay figs, combined with flower beds of annuals and shrubs.

Dramatic tree-lined avenues, a majestic fountain, formal flowerbeds and miniature lakes are features of these late nineteenth century Gardens. The gardens are home to the majestic world-heritage-listed Royal Exhibition Building. The Melbourne Museum and IMAX Cinema are found on the northern border of the gardens.

The Children's Playground has a main play structure - uniquely designed with layers of walls dividing the space with musical walkways, slides and tunnels connecting each section. Walk through these colourful wavy walls to get to the large structures with more things to climb, slide down and explore. The second playground is more your traditional and plastic style with a cute cubby, slides, monkey bars and an old school flying fox.

Underground parking is located off Nicholson St.
