Kempsey Riverside Park

The design for the Riverside Park playground was developed by Council under guidance from community interest groups, as well as healthcare and early childhood development experts in order to maximise accessibility for people with mobility difficulties and encourage healthy physical and social interaction for visitors of all ages and abilities.

Featuring a 25m long double flying fox, a water play area, three swing sets, climbing bars, a 6m tall Skyclimber climbing net, and a natural playscape area with log stumps and boulders to climb and balance on, the design flows from a junior play zone near the seating alcoves closer to the carpark, down towards the river where older children and teenagers can play.

Much of the playground’s design features innovative materials and recycled or repurposed items, making it cost effective, environmentally friendly and durable enough to withstand flooding.
