Targeted and mainstream programs and services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples include:                                     

  • Aboriginal Health Workers In collaboration with other health service staff, provide primary and preventive health education and health promotion programs to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients and patients. Includes in-patient visits, follow-ups for Aunty Jeans Program, 48hr follow-up, Otitis Media, HEBHBL Audiology Service, home visits and outreach services.
  • 48 Hour Follow Up Program Provides follow up services within 2 working days of discharge from hospital and covers issues such as medications (knowledge of and access to), referrals (booked and transport arranged) and general well-being.
  • Aunty Jean’s – Aboriginal Chronic and Complex Care Program For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples with chronic and complex care needs.
  • Healthy Ears - Better Hearing, Better Listening (HEBHBL) Audiology Service Reduces barriers for Aboriginal and Torres Strait children to access timely and appropriate ENT surgical procedures across NSW.
  • Otitis Media Provides all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children under the age of 12 years of with access to a hearing assessment in school or at local Community Health.
