Dubbo Hospital Carer Support Service

A carer is someone - a family member, friend or neighbour - who regularly provides support to someone with a disability, chronic health condition, terminal illness, mental illness, or someone who is experiencing age related frailty. Carers are not paid for their role, though they may receive a Centrelink allowance or payment.

Western NSW Local Health District has two Carer Program Coordinators who act as a central resource point regarding carer issues and resources across the LHD. We support and resource carer focused practice improvement and service initiatives, link health providers who are working on carer initiatives, and provide information, education and other resources to health staff.
