Telehealth (Videocall consultations)

WCHN is now trialling the Healthdirect platform to deliver video call consultations for many of its outpatient services. Video calls (also known as telehealth) enable specialist consultation appointments to occur with patients from their home, workplace or other convenient location using a smartphone, tablet or computer.

The Healthdirect platform is a web-based telehealth system, which does not require the installation of any software on the patient's device.

Some of the advantages of video calls are:

• saving consumers time and money by removing the need to travel to an appointment

• giving consumers the flexibility to have their appointments in a convenient place

• reducing risks to consumers who are vulnerable to infectious diseases such as COVID-19, by avoiding face-to-face contact.

During your appointment only you and your consulting clinician/s (and an interpreter if you have requested one) will be present during the video consultation. The appointment is not recorded and all content of the consultations protected in line with relevant, security and privacy laws and regulations to which the Women's and Children's Health Network adheres.
