RAH Volunteer Services Unit

Volunteers are recruited, trained and managed directly through the Volunteer Services Unit before undertaking their role in the relevant volunteer unit.

The Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) is supported by a large number of devoted volunteers who assist in providing support services to patients and their families. The RAH's existing 350-strong team of volunteers play an important role by generously giving their time to support staff in enhancing the comfort and well-being of patients and their loved ones.

Volunteers provide the chance to:

* give back and be a valued part of our community

* help people who are often going through difficult times

* improve the experience of patients and their loved ones, including elderly people and those from diverse backgrounds.

Inpatient volunteers work across a variety of different inpatient units and provide support to patients who are in hospital receiving treatment. Support ranges from laundry services, facilitating shopping requests to sitting and talking with patients, relatives and friends.
